Put on Your Running Shoes for National School Choice Week!

Jacksonville – On Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 8:00 a.m., Center Academy in Mandarin will host the first annual 5K and 10K races to celebrate National School Choice Week, which runs from January 25 to January 31.

Center Academy Director Stephanie Thompson has challenged students, parents, teachers, and friends to “Run, jog or walk now for NSCW!” Participants may register for the races at www.active.com. Cool goodie bags, t-shirts and medals will be provided for the first 250 participants, and everyone will receive a free NSCW scarf. Other area private schools, charter schools, magnet schools, and home school groups can win a trophy for the school/organization with the most participants.   Fees are discounted for ages 18 and under, and the races are managed by Ultimate Racing, Inc.

Directions and information about the event can be found at the NSCW events page: http://schoolchoiceweek.com/search?event=detail&id=2412

Jacksonville was selected to host the Official Kickoff of National School Choice Week 2015, which will take place the day before the races. This televised event features special guest speakers, performances by entertainers and student groups, and testimonials from students, parents, and teachers who understand the positive, transformative power of parental choice in education.

School choice supporters from across America will meet at noon on Friday, January 23 at the Florida Theater to help launch America’s largest-ever celebration of educational opportunity. This year, over 8,000 schools have already registered to participate in National School Choice Week events across the country.
