Center Academy Teacher - Janece Shelton

Teacher Spotlight – Janece Shelton

Say hello to Janece Shelton, a high school teacher who has worked at four Center Academy campuses, and is currently at the St. John Bluff campus. Born and raised in Michigan, Janece relocated to Florida for her job. She has taught various grades for 12 years, and also adult vocational programs for eight years.

Janece loves the philosophy of Center Academy – the ability to be able to teach according to the strengths and learning style of the students. “I love that I can individualize for each student to best meet their needs, and that I do not need to ‘teach to a test’,” she said.

Married for 26 years, Janece and her husband, Tom have two daughters: Sarah, who is 19, and Hannah, 16. Janece’s parents have been married for 61 years! She has 4 sisters, 1 brother and lots of nieces and nephews. In her free time, you will find her curled up with a book, preferably on the beach – or in the kitchen. “I’m a huge foodie,” she said.

When asked the secret to her success, Janece said, “When I put God first and my family second, everything seems to fall into place.”

Amazing tracher. We are so lucky to have her as our sons teacher they are a perfect match, sweet and at the same time she challenges Jon Paul to work independently. Thank God for her and all the staff in Center Academy, our son loves this school.

Mrs. Shelton is a true blessing to Center Academy! She has helped our son Matthew become more enthusiastic about school and want to do better. She teaches and encourages each student and uses their strengths to help them learn. Every student should be fortunate enough to have Mrs. Shelton as their teacher!

Mrs. Shelton was Austin’s 2nd year teacher at Center Academy, we would not have enrolled him the 3rd year if it had not been for Mrs. G and Mrs. Shelton. With Austin’s memory problems etc. they worked with him and he finished both years with high grades. We could not have asked for better teachers and school.
