Center Academy Celebrates Rising Stars Tamera Hayes and Isaiah Gagnon
Step Up for Students recognizes outstanding scholarship students every year through “Rising Stars” award ceremonies across the state. A “Step-Up” student consistently displays exceptional compassion, perseverance and courage, and excels in academics, athletics, or the arts. The February 25, 2021 virtual celebration recognized Tamera Hayes and Isaiah Gagnon, two extraordinary Center Academy students.
Tamera is a 12th grade student who will graduate in May 2021 as an honors student. She has attended Center Academy since the 2014-15 School Year (7th grade). She has excelled academically while attending Center Academy. Tamera participated in the Dual Enrollment Program during her 12th grade year and will graduate with 12 hours of college credits. She has also taken four elective courses through FLVS and participated in the Jacksonville Metrotown Institute. Tamera has been accepted for college at Valdosta State University and Florida Southern University. She is a dedicated student with an outstanding work ethic who has a bright future ahead of her.
Isaiah is a 12th grader who has attended Center Academy since 9th grade and will graduate in May as an honors student. While attending Center Academy, he successfully completed the STAR Job Training Program sponsored by Vocational Rehabilitation and earned a part-time job following a successful internship.
Isaiah has a contagious smile and always strives to be considerate and respectful to everyone he encounters. During the past four years I have never heard anyone utter a negative comment about Isaiah; he is loved by all. He exemplifies the saying, “When you smile, the world smiles back at you.” Isaiah’s kindness, dependability and work ethic will propel him far in whatever career field he decides to pursue.
