Student Spotlight: Christopher Romkey

Christopher Romkey is 18 and in the 12th grade at the Center Academy Riverview campus. He is a Florida native whose favorite subject is history because he enjoys looking back at how we have lived and survived throughout good times and bad. When asked about his favorite teacher, he said, “I have had so much personal help here, and all of my teachers really care about me.” He said that what he likes best is “how the classes are small, and all the teachers look out for you and prepare you for the future.”

When he’s not in school, you might find Christopher playing basketball at King High School. He treasures his mom, dad and sister, and feels “super-lucky to have them in my life; they always care about me and always support me through the good and bad times. I would not be who I am without them.”

If he had a chance, Christopher would love to have met Malcolm X. He said, “I feel that even though his life was short, he had an important part in the development of African American history.”

Christopher was excited to tell us that this past summer he got his first job, and has some basketball offers for college. And… he has started his own business… sneaker reselling!

Thank you, Christoper, for sharing a little about yourself, and congratulations for being featured in this issue’s Student Spotlight!
