Student Spotlight – Dylan Ellis
A 12th grader at Center Academy, Dylan Ellis loves science and history because “Science teaches us about a better understanding of the world around us. And with history, I’ve learned that throughout time, much of our human errors are the same.” Dylan’s favorite teacher is Mr. McKenna, who “has a very individualized approach to learning; we can learn at our own pace,” he said, saying that the students’ approach to learning at Center Academy is different than other schools he’s attended.
At 17, Dylan has already been accepted into two colleges! The first is Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA with a $66,000 Regents Scholarship and the other is the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA with a $10,000 Regent’s Scholarship and a $2,500 Merit Scholarship.
When he’s not studying, you’ll find Dylan playing video games, watching movies and listening to music. He has two older sisters “who are a big influence,” and very supportive parents.
If he could meet with a favorite historical figure, it would be Confucius because, “He was filled with a lot of wisdom, and there would be so much to learn from him.”
Congratulations on your accomplishments, Dylan, and thank you for sharing a little about yourself in this month’s Student Spotlight!
