Student Spotlight – Latsen Stoudymire

Latsen Stoudymire, a 12th grader at Center Academy’s St. Johns Bluff campus, is a native New Yorker who now resides in Jacksonville along with his family and pet dog, “Lady”. He can’t pick a favorite subject; he “likes all subjects” because he knows that all of the classes he is taking now will help him succeed in the next stage of his life. He has two favorite teachers: Mrs. Henry, who supported him by attending all his football games, and Mrs. Stephens, who smiled every day he walked into her class and always went out of her way to help him. “Center Academy provided a learning environment where I could focus and be successful so I could compete in football at Atlantic Coast High School,” said Latsen. “I have also grown as a person and developed into a better student,” he said.

One of the most indispensable things that the Latsen (aka Kevin Hart look-alike) learned is, “If you believe in yourself and work hard, you can accomplish your goals.” He feels that without the teaching, guidance and support of his entire family, he would never be the person he is today.

An avid football player, Latsen was selected to play in the North Florida All-Star Football game, and his team won! He recently committed to play Division III football at Manchester University in North Manchester, Indiana. His college plans include veterinary school and athletic training.

Congratulations, Latsen, on your outstanding accomplishments, and being featured in this month’s spotlight!
