Center Academy began in 1968 with the vision of its founder, Dr. Mack Hicks, who saw the need for a specialized, full-day school for students who were falling through the cracks in traditional schools.
Mr. Martin Slater settled in Florida in 2008, having previously lived in Ecuador, England, Belize, and Canada, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts at Brock University. He has over 15 years of leadership experience in the private education industry, working with elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students. Before Center Academy, he was the principal of two academies in South Florida that provided innovative education to students with learning differences.
