Award-Winning Programs Available to Center Academy Summer School Students!
Center Academy has developed an exciting summer program to help struggling learners and to enhance the skills of all summer participants. We are committed to ensuring our students receive every opportunity to succeed in their academic endeavors and are constantly looking for innovative ways to help our students close the learning gap. As such, we have focused on boosting math and reading proficiency to fight against the COVID slide. We are proud to offer Ascend Math and Lexia as two opportunities for students to enhance their skills during our summer school program. These are critical components for their success. Please consider these options as you plan for summer.
Ascend Math
We are excited to introduce Ascend Math, a supplemental math remediation program, during our Summer Educational Programs. Ascend Math is a research-based program that provides personalized online math instruction with individualized support from our classroom teachers. It focuses on core math skills and prepares students for Algebra readiness. Over 80% of all students in grades 3 – 9 that used Ascend Math with fidelity showed growth of one or more years. Ascend Math offers the most award-winning online instruction and multi-modal learning of any math intervention program, and we are pleased to implement it at Center Academy!
Lexia
We will continue to use Lexia’s PowerUp and Core5 literacy programs throughout our Summer Educational Programs. All Center Academy schools utilized Lexia during the 2023-2024 school year to boost reading proficiency. It has been an effective supplement to our core language arts program. Lexia’s Core5 (elementary) and PowerUp (middle and high school) are research-proven programs that accelerate the development of literacy skills for students of all abilities. Based on the science of reading, Lexia’s blended learning model offers explicit, systematic, and personalized reading instruction with the support of the classroom teacher. While working on the interactive, computer-based program, students focus on essential areas of literacy, such as: comprehension, grammar, phonics, spelling, fluency, structural analysis, and vocabulary.
