Academy Directors of Florida
Coral Springs (West Boca / Margate Area)
Ms. Barbara Cooper has been in the field of education for more than 15 years. She has served as a teacher and as an administrator. Ms. Cooper’s previous experience includes 11 years with Sylvan Learning as both a Center Director and a District Manager. Along with education, her passions include local community outreach and non-profit fundraising. Ms. Cooper has earned a BFA from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has also attended Syracuse University as an undergraduate.
Jacksonville – Mandarin
Mrs. Ellen Mattheus completed her undergraduate work in education at Adelphi University, New York. She received her Master’s Degree from Concordia University, Irvine, California in Curriculum and Instruction, along with a theological endorsement. She has served in the field of education for over 20 years within public and private schools in several capacities: teacher, curriculum resource, reading interventionist, professional development coordinator, instructional coach, director and principal. She also holds Florida endorsements in Reading and English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Jacksonville – St. Johns Bluff
Ron Booker has over 20 years of educational leadership experience, having served as principal, director, assistant principal and assistant to the commandant. He completed his B.S. in Education and Master of Education at the University of Virginia.
Mr. Andrew Guido has over 23 years of experience in working with children as a school administrator and mental health professional. He has experience as an adjunct professor in the psychology department at Youngstown State University in Ohio where he also earned his Master’s Degree in Education.
Ms. Joann Sas has over twenty years of experience in the field of education. She has worked as an administrator, a special education teacher and department chair, a special education advocate, and a curriculum consultant. Ms. Sas holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from George Mason University.
Mr. David Kaser joined Center Academy from the Broach School where he was principal. He has worked for 20 years as a K-12 educator and administrator in private education. Mr. Kaser holds his A.G.S. in General Studies from Indiana University, his B.S in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Ball State University, and is completing his studies in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Neall Jones is the Director of Center Academy at Pinellas Park. He is entering his 18th year in the field of education. For the past 10 years, Mr. Jones has served as a school principal in Florida and Pennsylvania in both public and private school settings. Prior to that, he was a teacher for 7 years. Mr. Jones earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and K-12 principal certification from Westminster College, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Clarion University in Pennsylvania..
Tampa – Riverview
Mr. David Stone joined Center Academy from Metropolitan Ministries Academy, where he was director of residential services. He has experience in both public and private schools and served in a leadership role with Metropolitan Ministries for 7 years. Mr. Stone holds a Bachelors degree from Florida Baptist Theological College.
Orlando – Waterford Lakes
Mr. Michael Trageser has been in the field of education for over 10 years. He received a B.S. in Special Education from University of Maryland and has specialized in helping students with learning differences. Prior to coming to Center Academy, Michael worked for Sylvan Learning as both a Center Director and Regional Director.
Academy Directors of Georgia
Ms. Chantell Francis has been in the field of education for over 10 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, and a Dual Master’s in General and Special Education from the College of New Rochelle. She has taught elementary and middle grades for Center Academy in Smyrna, GA. Her strategies for instruction are governed by the pupil’s background knowledge and experience, as well as learning goals set by the student and teacher. Ms. Francis is dedicated to advocating for all students and empowering them to advocate for themselves throughout life.
