Center Academy began in 1968 with the vision of its founder, Dr. Mack Hicks, who saw the need for a specialized, full-day school for students who were falling through the cracks in traditional schools.
Krista Lakin graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the State University of New York at Brockport. She has taught in both public and private schools, was an English instructor in Taiwan and South Korea and served as director at Center Academy in Lutz. Before returning to Lutz Center Academy, Ms. Lakin served as the Student Education and Wellness Coordinator at a private school for gifted education in Tampa.
